A lovely warm weekend is predicted by the Weather Man for our Carnival weekend. August 10th & 11th is said to be sun and cloud, so it sounds promising at this stage – not too hot and not too cold, in fact just the weather for a summer celebration.
The Carnival Committee are hoping that is what it is going to be. With the cost of living still rising for families, more of us are staying at home during the long children’s school holidays, so a free weekend of entertainment is just what the doctor ordered.
It won’t be a celebration without you, so do join us by the river at the Riverside Park.
There’s all the fun of the fair and lots of hot food stalls, along with all kinds of fundraising and charity stalls. There will be craft stalls too. There’s also a display of vintage cars where the owners will be more than pleased to tell you all about their pride and joy.
Cromwell Vets are coming along with their Fun Dog Show so keep an eye open for which class your pouch will fit into.
It wouldn’t be Carnival without a parade. This year there’s already 150 people booked in to take part, but there still time to join. Just fill in and return the application form on this website. There’s no charge just come and enjoy it. The Mayor and lots of clubs, dancers, etc are going to be in the parade. The Mayor will be resplendant in a classic car, and there will be a traction engine plus Noddy in his car to add to the fun.
The parade will form up outside of the library in Prince’s Street, at 12 noon it will promenade down through the town, past the old fire station on the Hartford Rd, across the ring road and into the Riverside Park where the Mayor will present the winner with “The Best in Parade” trophy.
And of course, on Sunday there’s our music festival “Live in the Park” filled with local talented artists.
