We are! Everything’s finally coming together.
Only a few days to go now.
2017’s Huntingdon Carnival is bigger and better than our first Carnival after that long, long gap. We’ve had lots of help from generous sponsors and we want to thank them all from those who have given us lots of help to those who have simply given us something small. The committee appreciates every contribution.
Welcome to our lovely new Carnival Queen, Abi Walker and her princesses Lexie Pearce and Cortney Giddings. We hope they really enjoy riding in their fairy tale coach and horses on Saturday in the Carnival Parade. Our thanks go too to the Mayor and Mayoress of Huntingdon, Cllrs Jay and Sonia Dyne for their participation in helping to choose our Carnival Court and for officially opening this year’s proceedings The Mayor will pick the Best entry in the Parade and award the prize in the arena once the procession gets to the Riverside Park. The Parade leaves The George Hotel at 12 noon and wends its way down the High Street, left on to the Hartford Rd, over the ring and finally ends up at the Park.
New for this year is our dedicated Craft Marquee where you will find 12 craft stalls manned by local crafts people. This year we have almost 50 community, commercial, charity and craft stalls on the field. We also have the return of the Cromwell Vets popular Dog Show, which has its own special arena area this year. Enter your dog for the different categories and the have a go agility course and scurry.
Arena events include the magnificent Cambridge Caledonian Pipe Band, a display by the Urban Dance Academy, a heritage re-enactment of Norman times, a boxing display by CAMPOL, Zumba with our own Debs, a fitness display and a demonstration by Dance Generation and overhead will be a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight of a Spitfire on Saturday and a Lancaster on Sunday.
On top of this there are some first class fairground rides and side shows and incredible refreshment stalls all for your delight. Don’t forget the land train rides, and the Ladybird Boat Trust will be at the moorings for trips up the river.
So with all this happening in Huntingdon, make sure you don’t miss out!
