After a whole year of planning the weekend is over in a trice! the weather was kind to us and more people than ever attended 2024’s Huntingdon Carnival and Live in Park.
All the planning was worth it when you saw the pleasure on the faces of the children as they enjoyed rides at the fair and watched other children dancing in the arena events.
There were more participants in the parade this year which was lively and colourful with many waving flags. The Mayor of Huntingdon, Cllr Karl Brockett, presented the Shaun Collins (Mooney) “Best in Parade” trophy to our well-known ‘Zumba Debs’ for her Dr Who entry with Tardis and K9. The Cromwell Vets fun dog show was well attended and rosettes were presented to each class winner. Even our new MP Ben Obese-Jecty entered his dog which won his class and was entered into the Best In Show category for all class winners.
The arena acts were superb, but of course the children stole the show. Thanks to Debs with her Zumba class for the demonstration and also to Generation Dance Academy and Theatretrain for their contributions.
Live in the Park on Sunday was a major showcase for 7 local talented groups or solo artistes. The line up was Oli Bruce, Tom Mee, Louise Alban, The Newmonarchs, Driver, Christian Smith & the Heretics and Soul Intention, all of whom gave their time for free. All were very much appreciated by the crowd who enjoyed their picnic under the sun.
A highlight of the afternoon was the appearance of the Lancaster Bomber PA474 flew over Huntingdon as part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) at approximately just after 4.30pm
